Please email application material to emba@unm.edu.

Application Fee

You may pay the $50 application fee through the online application form. Visa, Master Card, and American Express accepted. You may also call the EMBA Program office.

Statement of Purpose

Please write an essay (approximately 500 words) explaining your reasons for seeking an advanced degree in business, as well as your personal qualities and experience that will benefit your professional colleagues in the program. Include any noteworthy achievements or additional information you wish to share with the Admission Committee. Your statement of purpose can be uploaded with your online application.

Resume

Please submit a current resume detailing your work experience, management experience, and areas of responsibility. Your resume can be uploaded with your online application.

3 Letters of Recommendation

Three letters of recommendation are required, including one from your immediate supervisor. The most meaningful evaluations come from people who have been responsible for evaluating your academic or managerial performance.

Each letter should have a cover sheet attached.

Transcripts

Please send one official transcript from every institution you've attended as a registered student. Each transcript must be enclosed in the registrar's sealed envelope and included in your application package or sent directly to the Executive MBA Program Office at emba@unm.edu and NOT to the UNM Admissions Office. If you earned a degree from the University of New Mexico, we will request your transcript.

Domestic applicants with foreign transcripts must have those transcripts evaluated, even if they are in English. This must be a course by course evaluation that shows the foreign education level of study in comparison to the U.S. education level of study and the US education equivalent cumulative GPA. We recommend the following credential evaluators. Education Credential Evaluators (https://www.ece.org); National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://www.naces.org/); World Education Services (http://www.wes.org/).

GMAT or GRE Scores

The Admission Committee will accept either the GMAT or the GRE. The committee looks for a score of 500 or higher on the GMAT, or an equivalent GRE score. You can convert your GRE score with a score conversion calculator from ETS.

After you complete the test, you will receive your score immediately. Please record your results and submit them to us as your "unofficial" scores. While you're still required to submit your official scores, your unofficial scores allow us to expedite the interview process. When requesting your official score, use 4845 as the school's designation code. Test scores are valid for five years.

Applicants may waive the entrance exam by meeting one of the following conditions:

  • A Ph.D. in any field from an accredited institution
  • An M.D. or J.D. from an accredited institution
  • A Master's Degree with substantial quantitative coursework from an accredited institution
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business from an AACSB accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in upper level courses.

You may download the GMAT Waiver here. For more information on preparing for either exam, visit our test prep page.

Interview

After you complete your application, you will interview with the Admission Committee. It is your opportunity to discuss the value you will bring to the EMBA Program. You will be notified of the admission decision within two weeks after your interview.
