Three letters of recommendation are required, including one from your immediate supervisor. Each letter should have the EMBA Letter of Recommendation Cover Sheet attached. The most meaningful evaluations come from people who have been responsible for evaluating your academic or managerial performance.
Please send one official transcript from each college, university, and graduate school you attended as a registered student. Each transcript must be enclosed in the registrar's sealed envelope and included in your application package or sent directly to the Executive MBA Program Office. If you earned a degree from the University of New Mexico, we will request your transcript.
Permanent residents with foreign transcripts must provide a transcript evaluation. UNM recommends: National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://www.naces.org/) or World Education Services (http://www.wes.org/).
The GMAT and GRE entrance exams are administered computer-adaptive tests, which you can take year-round at a date and time that are convenient for you. Both tests measure general verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills at the level of a high school sophomore.
The Admissions Committee will accept either the GMAT or the GRE. The admissions committee requires a 500 or better on the GMAT, or a GRE score that is deemed to be greater than or equivalent to 500 on the GMAT using a conversion tool available at: http://www.ets.org/gre/institutions/about/mba/comparison_tool/.
Once you complete the test, your scores will be shown to you. Please record your scores and submit them to us. These will qualify as your "unofficial" scores. While you will need to submit your official scores to be officially admitted, your unofficial scores allow us to expedite the interview process. The school designation code is 4845 for either exam. Please do not indicate a specific program for your scores to be sent to; only use the UNM school code (4845). Test scores are valid for five years.
Information about the test, registration, and practice tests are available at:
The entrance exam requirement may be waived if the applicant meets at least one of the following conditions:
Once your application is complete, you will be required to interview with the Admissions Committee. The interview is an important part of the application process. It is your opportunity to discuss in more detail your qualifications and the value you will bring to the EMBA Program. You should receive notification of the decision within two weeks.
